Traveling While Pregnant

Our policy on flying while pregnant depends on both the passenger’s stage of pregnancy and overall health. We rely on the information provided by the passenger regarding the stage of pregnancy. Therefore, it is extremely important that accurate information is given.

  • Travel is permitted up to 36 weeks of pregnancy for domestic and short-haul flights (with a flight time not exceeding 2 hours), and up to 34 weeks for all other international flights.
  • In normal pregnancies before the 28th week, passengers may travel without a doctor’s note or approval. However, the passenger is required to complete a declaration form and present it during check-in/boarding.

  • After the 28th week of pregnancy, a medical certificate from the attending doctor confirming the passenger is fit to travel is required. The Ethiopian Airlines Pregnancy Certificate Form must be completed by the doctor and submitted to Ethiopian Airlines Medical Services for approval prior to check-in.
