Take the Train to Your Plane

Ethiopian Airlines, in partnership with Deutsche Bahn, offers seamless train-to-flight connectivity, allowing passengers to travel from almost any DB station in Germany to Frankfurt Airport with ease.

Important Information About Rail&Fly

  • Rail&Fly tickets cover train travel to/from Frankfurt Airport from any Deutsche Bahn service in Germany, with a surcharge automatically added to your booking.
  • Your train segment will be included in your flight itinerary. However, journey times listed are fictitious—you must select a specific train connection during check-in.
  • Rail&Fly only applies to DB trains and is not available for multi-stop bookings.
  • The ticket must be booked alongside your flight—it cannot be added online later.
  • Business Class passengers enjoy 1st-class train travel, while Economy Class passengers travel in 2nd class.
  • If you rebook your flight, you must check in again for your new train segment at www.rail-checkin.com.
  • Seat reservations: Free for Ethiopian Airlines flights. 1st-class train tickets include a free seat reservation, while 2nd-class passengers can book one separately at www.bahn.com, the “DB Navigator” app, or any DB travel center.

How to get your Rail&Fly train tickets

To ensure a smooth journey, passengers must check in at www.rail-checkin.com before departure to retrieve their Deutsche Bahn (DB) train ticket. We recommend checking in as early as possible to secure your preferred train connection.

6 Simple Steps to Get Your Train Ticket

  1. Visit www.rail-checkin.com
  2. Enter Passenger Details – Provide your name and either your flight e-ticket number or record locator
  3. Select Your Trip – Choose your outbound/inbound journey and add up to four additional passengers (if they are on the same route and in the same flight booking)
  4. Choose Your Train – Select a preferred train connection
  5. Confirm Your Booking – Review and confirm your train details
  6. Get Your Ticket – Download your train ticket or receive it via email

Key Guidelines for Selecting Your Train

  • Check-in required – You must choose a specific train at www.rail-checkin.com.
  • Flexible Travel Dates – You can select a train on your departure day or the day before, and for arrivals, on the day of arrival or the day after.
  • Timing is Critical – Ensure your train arrives at the airport at least 2 hours before Ethiopian Airlines check-in counters close.
  • Expect Possible Delays – Train delays can happen, and passengers are responsible for reaching the airport on time. Ethiopian Airlines is not liable for missed flights due to train delays.
